Kaleido Bay front-man launches solo project ‘KAYBLE’ with debut single ‘INTO THE NIGHTMARE’

In an age of predictability in new music, songwriters often fail to venture into experimental territory to challenge themselves and pop-culture norms. Kayble, however, takes unconventional songwriting, lyricism and thematics to a new level, ‘Into The Nightmare’ is an adventure to say the least, a soundtrack to a nightmare emphasised through a creepy, distorted atmosphere. Put simply, ‘Into The Nightmare’ is 03:28 of hell, intentional hell.

Whilst, admittedly, ‘Into The Nightmare’ isn’t by any means a song for a dinner party and potentially more fitting in a psycho-thriller, it by no means discredits the strategic insanity of the track. Overall, ‘Into The Nightmare’ is exactly what it says on the tin and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

With more releases on the horizon, it’s set to be an exciting year for Kayble and potentially a wonderfully terrifying year for the rest of us.

Into The Nightmare is out now on all major streaming platforms, follow the link below.

Kavanagh Reimagine 90s Alt Rock With Upcoming Single, Citizen 202

Brighton based 5-piece Kavanagh deliver nothing short of an uncompromising, raw and angsty view on the idiosyncrasies of human life in their upcoming single ‘Citizen 202’, recorded at Far Heath Studios with Angus Wallace of The Prodigy and esteemed producer Mike Bennett.

At 01:44, the unconventionally short track wastes no time in challenging the listener’s expectations. Beginning with feedbacking amps under a somber, Nirvana-esq, guitar line; then progressing into a beautifully hectic verse.

In all the methodical madness of the track, Kavanagh provide momentary bliss with a pre-chorus that allows the track to breathe and seemingly depart from the heavy guitars. Having said this, it’s not long before we’re thrown into the madness again for the last minute or so.

The more I listen to ‘Citizen 202’, the more layers reveal themselves. From the understated voices in the intro, to the call and response backing vocals in the chorus. Kavanagh deliver far more than just a rehashed 90’s alternative rock song. ‘Citizen 202’ is ambitious, explosive and quite frankly… mental. It’s exactly the kind of track you want to be throwing yourself around in a mosh-pit and for that, Kavanagh are definitely ones to watch.

‘Citizen 202’ is out on the 26th of March and also features (rather fittingly) in ‘Vegan Vampires from Zorg’ with members of The Sex Pistols and New York Dolls.

Kiwi Rock God, Merv Pinny, grants fans wishes with newest video release – Little Demons

The former dairy farmer turned rock sensation, Merv Pinny, hasn’t let his near-death experiences get in the way of his musical journey, including the video release for his latest track, Little Demons.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing for Merv, surviving being run over by a truck and a motorcycle accident that resulted in a broken back, clearly, nothing can stop the Kiwi rock artist from fulfilling his fans wishes. Originally starting out as the second part of Merv’s track, Twisted Minds, his fans insisted that Little Demons got its own release after becoming a hit on Spotify. And he didn’t disappoint. The exhilarating new video for Little Demons is sure to leave fans thankful for a musical treat this summer!

Watch the new music video for Little Demons here:

Here’s Merv explaining the process of creating such a rock classic:

“I was experimenting with different sounds and ways I wanted to make my guitar sound. I wanted my guitar to sound like a machine gun and bullets, so I used a pen, jamming it under the strings. Then I used a hunting knife to drag up the string to create a feeling of tension in the atmosphere”

Merv Pinny

Making a full recovery after cheating death, Merv now boasts millions of views of his tracks and videos. This is thanks to his viral hit ‘OB Can You Hear the Children Cry‘, a rallying cry for children in crisis around the world, as well as the recent radio hit ‘I’, which captures the delight of finally being able to reconnect with loved ones after lockdown.

Personifying the phrase ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ we can’t wait for his fans’ response to this empowering single and video, and what lies around the corner for the unstoppable rock star.

Nearly Skulls – ‘Bucket Listening’ Album Review

On first hearing, the debut album Bucket Listening by rock band Nearly Skulls will leave you researching the musicians behind this creative flair. But, unusually, that’s not possible. This mysterious Manchester trio are yet to reveal their true identity and have instead taken up the persona of three skulled figures. Whilest our knowledge of their lives is limited, perhaps this makes us listen even more carefully to the message behind the music.

The album begins with a clearly classic rock feel, led by tracks Animals and Busted Flush. The guitar takes the main stage in both songs, with powerful rock riffs, creatively used synth insertions, and heart-felt politically themed lyrics which can be heard throughout the album.

Headphones takes off with a faster tempo and slightly lighter feel, with the guitar occasionally doubling the vocal melody. This thinner texture continues in American Rules which was released as a single earlier this year –

“American Rules is about the slow-motion train-wreck of American politics, which ultimately affects everyone, not just Americans.”

Nearly Skulls

This track proceeds Please Stop, which portrays a slightly raw insight into today’s world, before we ‘Move Along‘ to the 7th track on the album, leaving us feeling more reflective than we thought any rock album ever would.

One of the strongest tracks on the album, Never Look Back, is a refreshing take on the pop-rock genre, (reminded of a Paramore song anyone?), with inventive use of the loop pedal. Here’s a live session of the song with the skull-masked trio:

We then revisit Dots, one of their older singles, before gathering speed again with Superflous, giving us an important reminder to appreciate the small things in life.

The album then takes a change in direction as far as mood and style are concerned. Shine Like The Sun and By The Book inject a more chilled feel creating a wonderful contrast. The first portrays a beautiful thank you message to a significant other, with the simplicity of the acoustic guitar adding extra warmth (no pun intended!). And the second, with a hint of a folk flavour, makes us question how much we are in control of our decisions and if they are influenced by what society is telling us to do.

It’s very likely Magic and Joy would sum up our feelings if we ever heard this song being played live. It’s easy to imagine the track being performed live at a Glastonbury evening set, and being soaked up by a crowd who are living for the moment and loving life.

And finally, Be Better leaves us with a final statement of embracing yourself for who you are. The perfect way to end an album that should definitely be on your listening bucket list this summer!

Tadini set to release new single next month after ‘The Arsonist’ success

Having released his debut single ‘The Arsonist’ earlier this month, Lucas Tadini has another treat in store for us next month with his next track ‘Welcome Back to Freedom’. This new single talks about some of Tadini’s inner mental struggles and how he has overcome them – a very appropriate song for each of us in today’s world.

Watch the lyric video for Tadini’s first single ‘The Arsonist’ here

Growing up in Brazil to Italian parents, Tadini attributes most of his musical influences to his multicultural background. Not only this but attending Berklee College of Music also meant that he was exposed to the best musicians in the world and allowed him to meet the incredible talent that he now works with on a global scale.

‘The Arsonist’ and ‘Welcome Back to Freedom’ are singles from Tadini’s debut album ‘Collective Delusion’, which is set to be released later on this year. And with a sound that draws deeply from the musical wells of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd as well as Tadini’s own cultural background, we are expecting big things from the album!

Whilst we wait for the next single to be released, follow him on social media to see how lockdown in LA is treating him and his cat ‘Lucifer’.

Steady Rollin’ release new video ahead of first album

Already premiered by New Noise Magazine, Steady Rollin’ have released their new video to single, “Impossible” and we’re loving it!

Watch the video for “Impossible” here

The new single has been released ahead of the band’s first album, Love & Loss which includes 10 tracks which tell love-related stories from lead singer Fernando’s real-life experiences to a musical backing which twists between emotional blues, agile, sinuous rock and a squall of alternative power. If this new single is anything to go by, we can’t wait to hear the full album!

“Impossible” follows on from the hugely popular track “When the Judgement Comes” and its super-charged dance remix courtesy of Elyse Rich, set a course from 80s synth pop to modern flourishes of stomping delight, all wrapped around the pounding, relentless rock of Steady Rollin’.

We think this new track will have just as much success as the previous one and can’t wait to see what Benjamin, Fernando and Gerardo have in store for us next as they plan to spread their rock and roll message across the world.

Apache Rose release new single ahead of their upcoming EP

Starting to develop as a guitarist and singer back in 2012, Ilya Novokhatskiy, has brought together a cast of like minded musicians to support him on his quest to bring Russian indie rock music to the world stage with Apache Rose. And with over 10,000 followers on Facebook and over a quarter of a million YouTube views of their last single it seems to be working so far!

Have a listen to Apache Rose’s previous single, Attention!

Their latest attempt to do so includes the new single Blind Spot, which is a ‘tribute’ to reckless taxi drivers worldwide and with an overarching theme of being careful not to put yourself into situations you can’t control – well we can relate to both of these!

Packed with energy and a knowing sense of humour, Apache Rose capture the inventive magnificence of the 90s Alternative music scene and the urgency and fury of today. They somewhat ironically combine sounds from the British Invasion of the Sixties and the Alternative guitar bands of the Nineties. But certainly are the Russian musical offensive we can all be joyful about!

Mini Moog maestro is such an Anti Climax, but in such a good way.

As I look across the wasteland of nothingness that used to be my high street , out of my window that used to represent a swathe of differing humanity , where I could spy in a nice way not in an odd way like the guy who that weird Hollywood actor with the goatie beard thing played in that spookie film Rear Window …or am I getting confused with James Stewart from a different Hollywood era, anyway you know what I’m saying !!! I’m saying what the hell is happening in the world and who is going to save us, then as if by magic I get a email from my guys at Quite Great PR and they say, ’CHEER UP BEAU AND HIS MINI MOOG HAVE COME TO SAVE THE DAY!’ Well that being the case I am feeling uplifted and I decide to check this Aussie out as Beau Bowen is now firmly based in London, his lair festooned with flares, sequinned capes, feathered caps and boots requiring a step ladder to get into but most importantly, the base from which his extraordinary music is born. His gift for lyrics and melody is matched by a prodigious talent for guitar-playing, his virtuoso Fender Strat outbursts aided by a passion for vintage gear, minimoogs as we mentioned earlier and an array of flashy pedals. With heavy doses of psychedelia mixed into his sound, it’s rare that a fully-fledged rock star emerges from the firmament but with Beau Bowen, it’s difficult to imagine a more complete article.

Now that is not all infact far from it but before we tell you any more , not that you deserve us to tell you any more about this glam god and his anti climax , we need you to listen to the music ok!

Actually that is enough we have thoroughly spoiled you or is it spolit you? and we are not going to tell you any more, you have to find out for youselfs or is it selves , yes it’s yourselves as we are not creating a script for Eastenders are we, although if we were we would find a part for Beau where he was caught washing his lycra day glo bright yellow spandex trousers in Dot Cotton’s laundromat and she throws him and only to find big Phil ….are we digressing, yes we are. Anyway he’s a star and that’s all there is to it . Goodbye….

Devi Charmian, folk rocker with unique name is a unique talent as star studded band prove.

When you know something is good, you know it is good, and the  minute we heard Charmian Devi’s new music we just new it was special, maybe at present we are in a more contemplative mood …that is a legitimate mood isn’t it? Well you know the vibe, the world is falling apart, and you need to escape so come with us and escape into Charmian’s music, but you will need a few minutes as there is a lot to take on board and we thought we would do you the big honour of being able to digest the full information from Charmian’s messengers …ok well they are PR people actually but we have so much respect for them and this super sonic act we thought, hey why not have the whole thing. So are you ready, here it is… “Charmian Devi has a unique gift for arrangements and composition. Vocals are sweet and sultry. She has talent and her music a sultry and fresh effort.” – Michele McManmon, The LA Indie Music Examiner.

“‘Such a Disgrace’ is the exact opposite with her song. It’s a groovy soul that makes your go out to her.” -IndieDial.com

Folk-rock trooper, Charmian Devi, doesn’t do things by halves – not content with already writing two of this year’s most infectious and seething rock songs, she assembled a band featuring some of rock’s most revered names to do it: guitarist Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group); Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan’s bass player since 1989; Tom Waits; Paul Simon) and Sonic Youth drummer, Steve Shelley, not to mention the talented work of Marc Urselli behind the production desk (six-times nominated and three-times Grammy award winner: Lou Reed; Mike Patton; Keith Richards; ZZ Top and many more!) Proving her standing among these rock luminaries, Charmian Devi is your new rock hero.

Watch the promo video for No Peace here:  https://youtu.be/1fm5cqoiGRI

…and the lyric video for Radio of None here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43ravqD7tFE

Based in Canada, after her father emigrated from London to Montreal, Charmian Devi has spent her life as a musician, from melodic garage bands through to lead singer and songwriter for 90s punk band, Wretched Ethyl who became one of Canada’s most talked-about bands, opening for the likes of Seattle grunge legends, 7 Year Bitch and punk icons, Nomeansno. Their demise after four fraught years sadly coincided with the tragic death of her husband – it was from the burning embers of this dark and harrowing time that Charmian Devi relocated to London for two years to rebuild her life. Still haunted by her turbulent past, she returned to Canada and a new Charmian emerged, a songwriter and musician who was truly able to crystallise her experiences and express them through her music.

“I really enjoyed recording with Charmian Devi…her songs remind me of bands like the

Velvet Underground, raw intuitive and in-tune with the times”

Bassist, Tony Garnier

Dedicated to a life in music and resolutely opposed to authoritarian regimes and dogma, Charmian is the embodiment of everything rock n roll stands for: truth; revolution and unyielding artistry. Her latest single, Radio of None is available on 8th April.

“I’ve really enjoyed producing Charmian because there are fewer and fewer artists today that play inspired & raw folk/rock music and are not trying to polish everything to sound more commercial. Her music speaks the truth and she puts all of herself into her songs. That’s also why I wanted to use musicians that are comfortable in an environment of spontaneous music that’s rough around the edges but carries a meaning and an attitude. Patti Smith, Bob Dylan and Sonic Youth are all raw and unapologetic and make great rock and/or folk music with powerful lyrics and meanings, so choosing Lenny, Tony and Steve was an obvious choice because that is exactly what Charmian does too!”

Beau Bowen’s Glam Revolution

Cosmic guitar hero; glam overlord; star child in flares – Beau Bowen is all of these and far more. His effortlessly groovy, melodically colossal songs have stepped straight of out of classic 70s top ten singles charts…or maybe the 60s…or the 80s…or…

Part of Beau Bowen’s genius is that his music manages to evoke some of the iconic names of musicians from across the decades, from Bowie to Bolan, from Prince to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, whilst retaining a sound which is immediately his own. If you ever dared to dream the phrases ‘prog’ and ‘glam’ would become cool, the waiting is over. Beau Bowen is your new hero.

You can check out footage of one of Beau’s latest gigs at The Half Moon in Putney here:

The concert was one of the last concerts before music venues started to close their doors and musicians were forced to cancel and postpone gigs due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the spirit of keeping things going amidst the chaos, Beau Bowen has since returned to the Half Moon in Putney to play a gig with no audience!

While we wait for the release of Beau Bowen’s album ‘The Great Anti-Climax’ on April 10th, you can checkout one of the singles released from the album, ‘A Rock N’ Roll Story’ now, music video below!
